Shapes

 

Add Shapes

Do the following:
  1. Click the Shapes Menu button on the toolbar, then select a shape type from the Shapes menu,
  2. or click the Add Shape button on the toolbar.
    1. If you are adding a Rectangle or Oval shape, click on the document, where you want to add the new shape.
    2. Otherwise, click on the document, where you want to add the first point,
      move the mouse pointer and click to add the second point,
      continue until the shape is finished,
      to finish drawing, right-click and select Finish from the menu,
      or press the Escape key on your keyboard.

 

Add a New Point to Your Shape (Polygon and Line)

Do the following:
  1. Select the shape element.
  2. Right-click on a segment of your shape (where you want to add the new point), then choose Add Point from the menu.

 

Delete a Shape Point (Polygon and Line)

Do the following:
  1. Select the shape element.
  2. Right-click on the shape point that you want to delete, then choose Delete Point from the menu.

 

Customize a Shape Element

Do the following:
  1. Open the Shape Properties dialog box, do one of the following to open it:
    • Double-click on the shape element.
    • Right-click on the shape element, then choose Properties from the menu.
    • Select the shape element, then click the Properties button on the toolbar.
    • Select the shape element, then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  2. Set options in the Shape Properties dialog box.
  3. Click OK.

Move a Shape Element

Do one of the following:
  1. Method 1:
    1. Click on the shape element you want to move (hold down the mouse button).
    2. Drag the shape element to the new position.
    3. Release the mouse button.
     
  2. Method 2:
    1. Select the shape element, then use the keyboard arrow keys.
      (Hold down the Shift key while pressing an arrow key to move faster.)

 

Resize a Shape Element (Oval and Rectangle)

Do one of the following:
  1. Method 1:
    1. Select the shape element.
    2. Click and drag one of the resize handles to resize the shape element (hold down the mouse button).

    3. Release the mouse button.
     
  2. Method 2:
    1. Open the Shape Properties dialog box.
    2. Select the Properties tab.
    3. Enter the new width value in the Width text box, and the new height value in the Height text box.
    4. Click OK.

Rotate a Shape Element (Oval and Rectangle)

Do one of the following:
  1. Method 1:
    1. Select the shape element.
    2. Click and drag the rotate handle to rotate the shape element (hold down the mouse button).

    3. Release the mouse button.
     
  2. Method 2:
    1. Open the Shape Properties dialog box.
    2. Select the Properties tab.
    3. Enter the new value in the Rotation text box.
    4. Click OK.

Duplicate a Shape Element

Do one of the following:
  • Right-click on the shape element, then choose Duplicate from the menu.
  • Select the shape element, then click the Duplicate button on the toolbar.

 

Delete a Shape Element

Do one of the following:
  • Right-click on the shape element, then choose Delete Selection from the menu.
  • Select the shape element, then click the Delete button on the toolbar.
  • Select the shape element, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.

 

Arrange Shape Elements

To arrange overlapping shape elements, do one of the following:
  • Right-click on the shape element you want to move, then choose Bring Forward or Send Backward from the menu.
  • Select the shape element you want to move, then click the Bring Forward button or the Send Backward button on the toolbar.
